about

in September of 2016 my sister and a friend turned my dad's old woodworking shop in the basement into a metalworking studio for me—i had taken a few workshops and wanted to be able to experiment on my own. i spent time in the summers working with silver, but the rest of the year teaching high school social studies took up most of my time and energy. i left teaching in the spring of 2019, hoping, among other things, to spend more time in the studio.

i was four classes into my first enameling class in March of 2020 when the world shut down for the pandemic, so i never got to finish the course. but i was lucky enough to have a studio, my aunt's old kiln, two enameling books, and plenty of time. i fell in love.

now i spend as much time as possible in my studio, exploring the possibilities of glass and metal--i'm constantly amazed at how heat and pressure can transform the materials into something that feels organic. i hope you love wearing your piece as much as i loved making it!
