about

in September of 2016 my sister and a friend turned my dad's old woodworking shop in the basement into a metalworking studio for me—i had taken a few workshops and wanted to be able to experiment on my own. i spent time in the summers working with silver, but the rest of the year teaching high school social studies took up most of my time and energy. i left teaching in the spring of 2019 to work on the 2020 elections, hoping to also spend more time in the studio.

i was four classes into my first enameling class in March of 2020 when the world shut down for the pandemic, so i never got to finish the course. but i was lucky enough to have a studio, my aunt's old kiln, two enameling books, and plenty of time. i fell in love.

i started selling pendants in September of 2020, to raise money for the elections—each had a stamped message on the back like "future voter." when the election was over and i expanded into different designs i kept the idea of the hidden message for my larger pendants, stamping or enameling the collection name, like "bloom," "grow," or "reclaim" on the back. i hope you enjoy wearing your piece as much as i enjoyed making it!
